A passion project for two high school sweethearts, Lasting Joy serves brews on tap inside a modern, Instagrammable tasting room.
There’s always room for another brewery in the Valley. Lasting Joy just opened in Tivoli—and it is indeed a joy. This hip spot was founded by Alex and Emily Wenner, high school sweethearts who moved from Brooklyn a few years back (yes that Wenner, Alex’s dad Jann is the co-founder of Rolling Stone magazine). The couple says the brewery was named after their hopes for their family business: “No matter the outcome, pursuing our dream of brewing excellent beer and serving it in a welcoming and inclusive taproom will bring [us] and others lasting joy.” There are currently four varieties on tap—English beet stout, hazy IPA, Czech pilsner, and Belgian wheat—as well as seasonal releases and wine, cider, and spirits from local producers. The brewery has New York State Farm Brewery status, meaning all the ingredients are sourced from NYS-based partners. What’s most impressive about this newcomer is the tasting room: a modern, open glass and metal pavilion overlooking 31 acres of fields and woods. While the exterior is dark steel, the timber-framed interior is warm and flooded with natural light. There’s a central floating bar (with 12 taps), and wood tables, sofas, and lounge chairs throughout the space. This is a perfect spot to visit on a sunny summer day—the outdoor area features plenty of Adirondack chairs, picnic benches, and food truck pop-ups. lastingjoybrewery.com
