One of the oldest ice cream stands in the Capital Region, Kurver Kreme is owned by Cheryl Apple, an area local whose parents, Lorie and Howard J. Meineker Jr., bought the joint in 1980 after working — and meeting each other — there as teenagers in the 1960s. To this day, this iconic stand still serves some of the best soft ice cream you’ve ever tasted. Vanilla and chocolate are always on the menu, along with a special flavor of the week. There’s also a flavor of the week for soft sherbet, dole whip, which is dairy-free, and only-B, which is a diabetic-safe treat. Each of these can be enjoyed on their own or twisted with vanilla.
Sweetest Treat: The Kurver Slider, made with your favorite ice cream sandwiched between a fresh Schuyler Bakery glazed donut and then rolled in sprinkles. (Especially good because of its limited availability.)
