Voted Hudson Valley magazine’s Best Soft-Serve in 2016, Joe’s Dairy Bar in Dutchess County is so popular they go through 125 pounds of rainbow sprinkles and 60 gallons of milk each week! First opened as Uhles Dairy Bar in 1960, the name changed when it was sold in the ’70s to a gentleman named Joe. When Steven Storino took ownership in 2002, he knew nothing about the ice cream business. “It was a leap of faith. It’s been rewarding seeing everyone so happy,” Storino says. If you’re craving hard ice cream, take your pick from the 37 different flavors of Perry’s Ice Cream. “Our portions are very big. A large is a large. You don’t get a rinky-dinky cone,” Storino says. Joe’s also serves a full food menu, including burgers that are handmade fresh daily.
