There’s still time to check out the final entries (and entrées) in the Rhinecliff Hotel and Restaurant’s Iron Grad Cooking Competition. Here’s how it works: Four contestants (all culinary school grads) are chosen to compete in one of three “heats.” The four each whip up a delicious meal which is then sampled by a panel of judges — as well as folks dining at the restaurant that night.
For the first heat, contestants were asked to prepare a classic four-course meal. Phase two focused on Mediterranean cuisine. On July 13, chefs in the third heat create tasty meals with a Summer Harvest theme, using produce and other seasonal ingredients from local farmers and suppliers.
And get your forks ready — the grand finale takes place August 10. This “Culinary Smackdown” round pits the winners of the three heats against one another in a no-holds-barred competition featuring their most dazzling dishes.
Reservations are required for the two remaining Iron Grad cookoffs. The cost is $39.95 per person; tax, tip, wine, and coffee are included.
