How do you like your burger? Well-done or medium rare? Topped with cheese and avocado, or onions and eggs? Served alongside French fries or zucchini blossoms? Prepared in an upscale restaurant or a (fresh!) fast-food joint? Whatever your preferences may be, we’ve got the scoop on where to find the perfect patty

Along with Mom and apple pie, is there anything more American than the hamburger? Experts seem to agree that this modest combination of beef, spices, and roll was first served at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair.

Today’s burgers, though, are a work of art, with gastronomes debating every element from the type of patty used (grass-fed beef? Kobe beef? vegetarian?) to favored toppings (everything from avocado to eggs). Here’s our list of the Valley’s hamburger honor roll.
