For a knee-slappin’, finger-lickin’ good time, look no further than the Hudson Valley RibFest. The Ulster County Fairgrounds in New Paltz hosts this barbecue cook-off, as 60-some grilling groups from all over the Northeast vie for gustatory glory in the form of a $10,000 cash prize, a trip to the national competition in Kansas City, and of course, bragging rights. Gobble some grub and stroll about the grounds, beautifully located in the shadows of the Shawangunk Mountains. Local musicians add their own flair and flavor for adults, while a children’s activity area keeps the full-bellied tykes on their toes. New this year: The official show car of the NASCAR Nationwide Series also makes an appearance, giving RibFest attendees and racing enthusiasts the chance to experience NASCAR excitement firsthand.
