Just in time for National Frozen Food Day on March 6 (we know, we know), we’re happy to introduce you to Hudson Valley Harvest, the brainchild of farmer Paul Alward of New Paltz. The newly launched company works with a network of local farms to gather the highest-quality fresh produce and meat, flash-freeze the food at the peak of quality, and slap on a detailed label so you know exactly where your food is coming from. “It’s all about transparency. It is often just 24 hours from the time a vegetable is picked, washed, and blanched before it is frozen,” says Alward. “The quality is unlike anything our customers have ever seen before.” Currently the company is supplying produce to about a dozen restaurants locally and in New York City. Corn, green beans, and broccoli are among the most popular veggies, which are available in 10-ounce packages for consumers, says Alward. “This way you are sure that what you are buying is what you think you are buying,” he adds.
