The Hudson Valley boasts an impressive list of exports—maple syrup, wine, onions, and beer, just to name a few. But none upstage the mighty apple; in fact, according to the USDA, New York is the second-largest apple-producing state in the country. It only makes sense, then, that we dedicate an entire week in celebration of a beloved derivative of the apple: cider!

During Cider Week, enjoy programming at 33 cideries across the Empire State. Events include cider tastings, chef and cider pairings, cider markets, orchard tours, and more from October 5-13.
Cider Week has grown tremendously since its inception in 2010 and is now produced by the New York Cider Association. In a place so abundant with apples, cider season is year-round for the Hudson Valley, but the week-long, state-wide celebration of the beverage gives locals and tourists alike even more reason to raise a glass.

“This fall, I invite you to raise a glass of Orange County-made cider,” says Amanda Dana, Director of Orange County Tourism & Film. “With tastings at local cideries, combined with the fresh country air, against an Instagram worthy backdrop that’s just 50 miles north of New York City, Orange County is the perfect destination for day trips or weekend escapes.”
Beyond Orange County, enjoy hard cider and other autumnal festivities during the seven-day event at producers ranging from Westchester’s Merchant’s Daughter to Albany’s Nine Pin Cider Works. “Celebrating Cider Week New York is a great way to support small business, taste one of New York’s premium agricultural products, and enjoy all the iconic flavors and experiences the fall brings to New York,” says Scott Ramsey, executive director of the New York Cider Association.
