Homemade popsicles are taking Cold Spring’s Main Street by storm. Husband-and-wife team Lynn and Greg Miller were looking for a unique, food-related business; eventually, Lynn’s childhood obsession with sucking on frozen grapes gave way to the fresh-fruit sensations known as Go-Go Pops. In 2008, the couple began marketing the pops at local farmers’ markets; last summer, they opened their Main Street storefront, which now also offers such things as a juice bar, coffee, bubble tea, and smoothies.
The Millers have perfected more than 70 popsicle flavors, with up to 20 of them available at the store on any given day. No corn syrup is ever used — if the pops require sweetening, they use organic cane sugar or locally produced honey. “Mango is always a big seller,” says Lynn. “The strawberry-banana is also popular — you get big slices of banana in there. And the pumpkin pie pops were requested so much that they are now available year-round.” While the Fudgie Wudgie has mostly held on to its top-pop honor, the Green Faerie — with just the right amounts of avocado, kiwi, coconut water, and agave nectar — is giving it a run for its money. “It’s really creamy, and both tangy and sweet,” says Lynn.
Go-Go Pops can also be found at nine different farmers’ markets, including the ones in Warwick, Goshen, and Ossining.
