Reason number one to break your New Year’s resolution: What’s better than a food and wine fest to ruin your restraint? There’s always the day after you head to the Albany Chefs’ Food & Wine Festival, January 14-16, orchestrated by the city and held for the seventh year at the Hilton Albany. This year there will be more than 70 chefs and 250 global wine, spirit, and New York State craft beer companies vying for your attention and stomach, as well as educational seminars to up your brain power. The mayor’s opening celebration is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, followed the next day (after 4 p.m.) with a “rising star” chef pavilion and battle of the bartenders; another popular Friday event is the slider slam.
