A little slice of Italy in Newburgh’s historic district, Caffé Macchiato is owned and run by Edwine Seymour and Barbara Ballarini — a pair of Brooklyn transplants with no prior restaurant experience. Now in its seventh year, the Liberty Street eatery offers a simple and traditional menu of panini, salads, pasta, and egg dishes that feature meats and cheeses imported from the old country. And pastry chef Seymour’s desserts — including this indulgent tiramisu — draw raves from local diners.
