Always bustling, Bread Alone’s three cafeÌs — in Woodstock, Boiceville, and Rhinebeck — incorporate a rotating selection of 18 freshly baked loaves into their breakfasts. Brioche French Toast ($9) is a rich, buttery crowd-pleaser that comes with a seasonal fruit compote, apple-maple butter, and maple syrup. Salmon Works ($9.25) pairs smoked salmon with caper cream cheese on a slice of organic sourdough rye or a bagel. An $8 Cheddar Cheese Frittata Sandwich (only available in Boiceville) with arugula pesto is prepared with ciabatta, the flavorful Italian flatbread. Wholegrain oatmeal, yogurt and granola, muffins, and scones round out the menu.
A shout-out to java junkies: They take coffee very seriously here and have all your favorite brews, from a bracing house blend to espresso and frothy caffeinated drinks. A new location in Lake Katrine — which currently operates as a manufacturing joint — is set to open in spring 2014. Stay tuned! 845-876-3108; www.breadalone.com
