On Aug. 2, Orange County’s “black dirt” region hosts its third annual Black Dirt Feast in the beautiful fields of Scheuermann Farms and Greenhouses in Pine Island. Organized by the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, this al fresco fund-raiser features a sampling of delicious, homegrown foods provided by various Warwick Valley farmers and local restaurateurs. This year’s collaboration features three entrée options — grilled pork loin, wild Hudson Valley codfish, or sautéed free-range chicken — as well as hors d’œuvres, desserts, appetizers, soups, and salads, all made from locally grown produce and whipped up by some of the region’s top chefs. A selection of organic and biodynamic wines accompanies the menu. Enjoy live music while you chow down, provided by the Hudson Opera Theatre and the Jeff Ciampa Jazz Trio.
Proceeds for this year’s bountiful feast benefit St. Peter Lutheran Church in Pine Island, the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund, and the Beautification Initiative Fund of Pine Island.
Tickets are $95 per person, reservations required. 845-258-4176 or www.warwickinfo.net/blackdirtfeast
