Tuesday at the Saloon of East Durham
East Durham
There are only so many times you can dial in a pizza and call that dinner before the parental guilt sets in. That’s why this Tuesday night, kids-12-and-under-eat-free policy is a pleasant respite for parents. Kids choose from the usual suspects — burgers, mac ’n cheese, chicken tenders — while adults (who must order an entrée for the deal to kick in) have a wide range of choices. “Nine out of 10 people order steak or burgers, and it’s all USDA choice Angus beef,” says Zachery Davis, chef/kitchen manager of the four-year-old restaurant. “It’s a lot of food for the price.”
A life-size statue of a long-horn black bull greets you out front, and the inside of the eatery is just as much fun: It’s decorated like an old-time Western saloon, complete with wanted posters and cowboy paraphernalia. You can also eat at picnic tables on the wraparound front deck. 518-634-2429; www.saloonofeastdurham.com
