Prize Pizza

Some of the best pizza in the world is made here right in the Hudson Valley—according to the 2023 International Pizza Expo. For the second year in a row, Poughkeepsie’s Hudson & Packard clinched a third-place win in the pan pizza division. Chef and owner Charlie Webb wowed judges with his “A Taste of Home” pie, which pays homage to his hometown in Michigan and its large Lebanese population. His unique recipe starts with a Halloumi cheese crust topped with root vegetable hash, lamb and beef kofta, baba ghanoush, and garlic hummus—and it’s finished with tomato oil and pickled turnip.
