Food writer and internet personality Alison Roman has a lot of things on her plate. In the past year, she’s released a New York Times-bestselling cookbook Sweet Enough (recipes for simple, delicious desserts), got married, and opened First Bloom Corner Store, a curated provisions shop in the Western Catskills hamlet of Bloomville.
At First Bloom—which is in a circa-1860s home—you’ll find seasonal produce, freshly baked breads, local ciders and beers, artisanal ceramics, and pantry goods such as tinned fish and pickled veggies.
Some days Roman even whips up special items like desserts from Sweet Enough, bloody Mary cocktail mixes, and Calabrian chili-infused tomato sauces.
