In 1959, the late Howard S. Finkelstein moved to Newburgh, NY from his native Brooklyn, rented an office on Liberty Street and started a personal injury law firm. From its earliest beginnings, our firm had a mission not just to help injury victims receive the compensation they deserved, but also to give back to the community in every way possible.
This year, Finkelstein and Partners, LLP, marks 60 years in business. Over the past decades, our firm has expanded its team to more than 200 attorneys operating in eight locations across New York State—but we have never forgotten our legacy or commitment of giving back. Under the leadership of Howard’s son Andrew Finkelstein (now the firm’s Managing Partner), Finkelstein and Partners has been celebrating all year long with a schedule of events spotlighting six noteworthy charities we love and support. We’d like to take a moment to introduce you to these organizations.
For 35 years, Northeast Gateway to Freedom has been serving as a safe haven and mentoring center for the children and youth of Newburgh, providing everything from daily meals to mentoring, after school programs and internships. To highlight their Culinary Business Youth Internship, we teamed with other local businesses to sponsor the Hudson Valley Wing Wars in February 2019, featuring wings from some of the area’s best establishments, along with live music and a special appearance by WWE Hall-of-Famer Tito Santana. Literacy Connections is a non-profit dedicated to help area families and adults become functionally literate through one-to-one and small group tutoring. We aimed our sponsorship of the Hudson Valley Cider Festival in June to showcase this great charity. Click here to support Literacy Connections.
We honor those who have served our country, which is why we love this important organization offering critical support and assistance to military veterans facing hardship. We sponsored the Insane Inflatable 5K in July to spotlight the Hudson Valley Veterans Alliance. Click here to add your support.
Boys & Girls Clubs is a highly reputable organization offering a wide range of activities and programs designed to support and empower children from Kindergarten through their late teens. Our sponsorship of the Empire State Hot Air Balloon Festival in July was dedicated to providing support and awareness for this nonprofit. Click here to support them through donations, volunteering or both.
This no-kill animal shelter is 100% staffed by volunteers, providing care and protection for dogs and cats in need of a new home. We raised awareness of this important foundation with our sponsorship of the Hudson River Craft Festival in September. Click here to donate or to volunteer.
Dedicated to eradicating hunger across the Hudson Valley, this organization collects large donations of food for distribution to multiple area charities serving the hungry. To spotlight this important work, we are sponsoring the 2019 Hudson Valley Food Truck Harvest Festival. Donate or volunteer by clicking here.
At Finkelstein and Partners, we firmly believe in serving our community by supporting both charities and events that help our community’s underserved. As a 60th birthday gift to us, we encourage readers to support or volunteer for at least one of these fine organizations.
