2024 Scholarship Winner

ARIANA ELIAS
Hudson Valley magazine is happy to announce the winner of our 17th annual nursing scholarship, awarded to Ariana Elias. “I know this is hard, but there is no greater honor than to care for someone.” Those words were spoken to Ariana by her mother — a nurse whose dedication to her own patients and to Ariana’s ailing grandmother served as an example.

Ariana says her earliest memories of her parents always involved them caring for others. Her mother and father, who is an emergency medical technician, devoted their life’s work to serving others. When asked why she wants to enter the nursing field, Ariana says, “I don’t think I had a choice; I truly believe it is just a part of me.”

A volunteer at Montefiore St. Luke’s Hospital since 2018, Ariana is also a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. Her creativity, ambition, and unwavering commitment to excellence has prompted her to pursue other credentials. After enrolling in Warwick Valley High School’s cosmetology program, Ariana demonstrated that hard work truly pays off. She has consistently earned top grades of 95 percent or more.

Through caring for her grandmother, Ariana has developed skills that will help her better serve the patients of tomorrow. Ariana’s experience at the hospital, coupled with the care she has extended to her grandmother, her stellar grades, and leadership skills, makes her well suited for this scholarship. She will undoubtedly bring her hardworking spirit and sense of compassion to all she serves.
