Tennessee Williams’ rarely seen play, “Orpheus Descending”, a tragic love story set in a mercantile store in a small southern town, is based on the Greek Mythological tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. A tale of the Greek God & musician, Orpheus, who enters the underworld to try to save the love of his life from her banishment to an eternity with Hades.
This new production is an immersive, site-specific production, set in an actual mercantile store in the small town of Cornwall, NY, wherein the action takes place inside the store, and the audience is immersed in the surrounding environment. Seating capacity is limited. Six shows only. Aug. 19th – Aug 28th. Fri & Sat evenings @ 7:30pm, Sunday matinees @ 3:00pm. Tickets are $25 and $20 for Seniors.
