Light, and Life: Moments in Time and Space solo exhibition by Ruvan Wijesooriya

July 22 @ 12:00 pm - July 24 @ 7:00 pm

EXHIBITION DATES: July 22nd and 23rd from 12-7pm, and July 24th from 12-5pm

Park Theater Hudson is pleased to present an exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya during Upstate Art Fair 2022, curated by Nicole Ianniello.
The collection titled Light and Life: Moments in Time and Space is a multi-media presentation of light projection and a manifold series of thematically distinct imagery. To begin a grouping of three distinct sub narratives: Color field, works that transmit hues bright and dusky; Rainbow, interpretative documentation of two rainbows colliding glowing of enmeshed and refracted color; and Sun photos captured while traveling throughout Southeast Asia. Following, black & white images of an early muse – fun-loving shots from his studio – combined with ripped prints of flora from landscapes in the Yucatan engender one conceptually collaged image. States Wijesooriya, “It presents nature as how it made me feel: timeless, abstract, and elastic.” Lastly, a piece from Wijesooriya’s latest Text series makes newfound affiliations layering additional context throughout the exhibition.
Wijesooriya’s Light Has Memory visual experience projection participates in humanity’s pre-cosmic wistful craving to get away and beyond one’s body, welcoming you to zero in on nothing other than the colors that transmit themselves; a novel approach to experiencing tone and light introducing a powerful enhanced visualization to this body of work.
Viewing his art, one is captivated by various rich representations of skyscapes, water, flora, rainbows, and people, an alternative universe of one’s interpretation.
