Contemporary Rockland Artists: RoCA Faculty Exhibit

September 12 @ 11:00 am - October 1 @ 4:00 pm

Contemporary Rockland Artists:
RoCA Faculty Exhibit
September 12 – October 1, 2021
Free to the Public

Contemporary Rockland Artists: RoCA Faculty Exhibit celebrates its teaching artists who continually inspire students of all ages and skill levels. The exceptional faculty actively creates, teaches and exhibits throughout the Hudson Valley, and all fifty United States. They are award-winning artists, professors, grant recipients, and artists in residents who share their knowledge and talent with RoCA students.

We are proud to list just a few of these accomplished teachers:

Marlene Krumm-Sanders’ open ceramic sculpture forms are depictions of provocative architectural abstractions that play with tension between solid and negative spaces while simultaneously creating an illusion of defying gravity, and appearing to displace weight and push volume. Grids of lines wrap their way around the exterior of the object. The final sculptures are calm and content. Sanders studied at Parsons and at the American College in Paris, France. She exhibits extensively.

Eleanor Miller is a classically trained artist, having studied under Eleanor Mikus, a Vanguard Minimalist, and Bernard Aptekar, one of the original SOHO Ten Downtown at Monmouth University. She continued studies at the National Academy School of Fine Arts. Miller has exhibited extensively throughout the East Coast and is the recipient of numerous awards, including Best of Show at the Museum of Fine Arts, Springfield, MA, the Anna Hyatt Huntington Award from the National Arts Club, and the Gamblin Artists Award from the Salmagundi Club.

Maria Spiess is currently an Artist-in-Residence at Clay Art Center, in Port Chester, NY. She has completed residencies at Lux Center for the Arts (Lincoln, NE), Woodstock Byrdcliffe Arts Colony (Woodstock, NY), Taos Clay Studio (Taos, NM), Golden Bridge Pottery (Pondicherry India), and Chautauqua Institution (Chautauqua, NY).
We invite you to view this exhibit of extraordinary artists of Rockland, on view Sept. 12 through Oct 1. The exhibit is open, free to the public, Monday through Saturday, 11am–4pm.
