Listen to Live Music at These 4 Weekend Fests

Family Fun Day 2018

Education Center and 4-H Park, 300 Finchville Tpke, Otisville
July 28, 12-7 p.m.

Bring the family to Otisville for the Orange County Cornell Cooperative Extension’s fun-filled community event. The free celebration will give little ones the chance to explore the petting zoo, make their own crafts, learn at interactive exhibits, and dance it out to local performers. The highlight of the day comes in the form of the Duck Derby, in which rubber ducks race down a man-made river. The winning duck scores $500, although the true fun happens when cheering on the squeaky competitors.

Hudson Valley Brassroots Festival

Seed Song Farm, Kingston
July 28, 1-10 p.m.

On Saturday, the best of brass band music will set up shop in Kingston for the inaugural festival. Eight bands are scheduled to perform, including Red Hook’s The ‘Ol Factory Brass Band. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Seed Song Farm, its CSA program, and its educational outreach. In addition to foot-tapping tunes, attendees can look forward to open-air dancing, local bites and drinks, farm tours, and a bonfire in the evening.

 

Blackdome Music Festival

Windham Civic Center, Windham

Plan a day trip to Windham this weekend to check out the Blackdome Music Festival. On Saturday night, Keelan Donovan, Sam Moss, and the Hudson Dusters will perform at the Windham Civic Center. The following day, a children’s concert will delight the little ones. Throughout the weekend, local performances and musical workshops will also be open to the public.

 

5K Donut Run

Fishkill Farms, Hopewell Junction
July 29, 8 a.m.

Rise and shine early on Sunday to make it over to Fishkill Farms in time for the races. The party starts with a Kids’ Dash at 8 a.m., followed by a 5K Orchard Run at 8:30 a.m., and a 5K Donut Run at 8:45 a.m. After the competitions conclude, stick around for the music and the farm-fresh food. Pick-your-own produce is available during the day as well. Whatever you do, don’t forget to pick up a homemade donut before you leave. They’re made fresh daily and guaranteed delicious every time.
