Berkshires Arts Festival
July 1 - July 3$7 – $16
Sparks will fly at the 21st Berkshires Arts Festival in Great Barrington July 4th weekend–July 1-3–on the grounds of scenic Ski Butternut. A dazzling synergy occurs when150 exhibitors join live music, craft demos, workshops, entertainment and kid’s activities. The family-oriented festival is produced and curated by An American Craftsman Galleries, Lenox, Mass. It will include artisans who design and create jewelry, ceramics, photography, sculpture, art glass, furniture, painting, fashion and works in wood, metal, mixed media, leather and fiber.
New to the Festival are jeweler Steve Kolodny, Brainard, N.Y.; rocking chair artisan Tom Bazis, Philadelphia, Pa.; furniture maker Peter Judge, Ghent, N.Y., ceramist Jenna Cranna Cahalan, New Milford, Conn. and photographer Dylan W Kubis, Sheffield, Mass.
Old Favorites include decorative fabric/needle felting artist Juliana Boyd, S Hamilton, Mass.; ceramicist Gail Markiewicz, Woodbridge, Conn; fine wood turning artist Paul Petrie, Gloversville, N.Y.; fashion designer Dahlia Popovits, Boston, Mass.; painter John Van Orsouw Palatine Bridge, NY; wood artist Chris Wakefield, Edmeston, N.Y.; metalwork designer Del Martin, Monterey, Mass.; leather handbag designer Randy Herold, Oneonta, N.Y. and sculptural landscapes by Rick Epstein, Westfield, Mass.
Among 21 Year Veterans are potter Lynne Puhalla, North Attleboro, Mass.; fashion designer Shekina Rudoy, Princeton, N.J.; furniture designer Peter Handler, Philadelpha, Pa. and watercolorist Barbara Doncaster, Great Barrington, Mass.
David Herbert, Hebeepottery, Chicopee, Mass., will conduct demos at the potter’s wheel. Ventriloquist/puppeteer Bruce Bowie, Pittsfield, will entertain the kids and flying painter Michael Indorato will fascinate. Entertainment will include East African fusion band Zikina, using regional instruments such as an enanga (zither) and adungu (harp), made by a principal, Gideon Ampeire. Howard Richard Liebermann will perform on keyboard and the John Meyers Trio, jazz .
