Afternoon on a Hill: A Summer Musical Celebration Inspired by Edna St. Vincent Millay’s Poetry to Benefit Steepletop

August 13

The Edna St. Vincent Millay Society is opening its grounds for the first time in three years for a Saturday afternoon concert to benefit this historic site. The grounds will open at 10 am for guests to wander through Millay’s gardens and fields and explore the Poetry Trail that leads to the Millay family gravesites. Guests are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grounds. Tours of Millay’s home, which were available for an additonal cost, are now sold out.

The 2 pm concert features world-renowned Maeve Gilchrist, Scottish harper, composer and producer, who will perform the title cut from her latest CD, “The Harpweaver,” which was inspired by one of Millay’s iconic poems. Opening for Gilchrist is the acclaimed family trio of musicians Liz QUeler, Seth Farber, and Joey Farber, who will perform selections from their CD, The Edna Project, featuring musical renditions of Millay’s poetry.

A wine reception will follow the concert.
