On Thursday, August 1, 2013 Hudson Valley Magazine hosted the first annual Burger and Beer Bash at the Shadows Marina on Poughkeepsie’s waterfront. Fourteen of the Hudson Valley’s top restaurants grilled up their signature sliders to a crowd of more than 700 guests, all looking to taste-test some of the Hudson Valley’s best burgers.
Thousands of sliders were served — and judged by guests — including the “Best of the Bash”: a mushroom burger topped with Gouda and Sriracha aïoli from Cosimo’s Brick Oven of Poughkeepsie.
With Blue Moon and Third Shift Amber Lager on tap, courtesy of Manhattan Distributors, the beer station was a popular pit stop. Happy Bitch Wines offered samples of its rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, and pink Chardonnay; and Voss Water was on hand, too.
Royal Khaoz kept the crowd groovin’ with relaxed reggae music. By nightfall, the deejays of Music Speaks Volumes Entertainment transformed the tent into an impromptu dance party.
Raffle prizes included $100 gift certificates to local restaurants, dance lessons, and passes to SplashDown Beach. Food Bank of the Hudson Valley — the official charity of the Bash — raised enough to provide 5,960 meals to the community.
