Zero-Proof Bottle Shop
Stella’s Fine Market, Beacon
This cute and curated spot on Main Street was named one of the top non-alcoholic bottle shops in America according to Wine Enthusiast—and we understand why. Beyond the trendy pantry items and diverse cookbooks are over a dozen bottles and cans of zero-proof cocktails and drinks, like Best Day Brewing’s Kolsch-style beer, fruit-forward aperitifs by Ghia, and Töst rosé refresher. Stella’s even hosts NA pop-ups throughout the year and launched a dry bar cart for private events.

Neighborhood Brewery
Subversive Malting + Brewing, Catskill
The lucky people who live in Catskill don’t have to travel far to visit a great brewery; in fact many can walk to Subversive’s taproom and beer garden on West Bridge Street. The beer —from hoppy IPAs to sours to their popular Dark Harvest—is brewed with locally sourced ingredients. They also serve NYS wine, cocktails, hard cider, and sodas as well as a food menu including sandwiches, salads, and smash burgers.

Food at a Winery
Milea Estate Vineyard, Staatsburg
We are thrilled that our readers selected Milea as Best Winery in the Hudson Valley—the wine is spectacular, but so is the food. The seasonal small bites menu, created by talented chef David Kim, features fresh, local ingredients sourced from local farms and the winery’s own organic gardens. Several options are Asian inspired, like the delicious Korean fried chicken with gochujang glaze; there’s also a cheese plate featuring HV fromage.

Original Ice Cream Flavors
Fortunes Ice Cream, Tivoli
Whenever you are anywhere near Tivoli, make sure you make time for a stop at Fortunes. Yes, there are plenty of ice cream shops around the Valley that scoop up lots of varieties made with fresh, local ingredients but we bet you won’t find flavors like rosewater saffron pistachio, halva honeycomb, and labne sour cherry. There are delicious vegan options as well.

British Food
Moreish, Beacon
Take all the stereotypes about British food being bland and boring—and throw them out the window. English expat Michael Johnson (who’s worked in Michelin-starred kitchens and for British Airways) is serving up fresh, authentic dishes, from always-popular bangers and mash to full English breakfasts, in his stall at the Hudson Valley Food Hall. Moreish’s savory and sweet menus rival those of British pubs; and, once you try their sausage roll, you’ll be craving it weekly.

Cheese-Forward Menu
Bimi’s Canteen & Bar, Chatham
Calling all fromage fans! This Columbia County bistro highlights all things cheese on its rotating menu—from charcuterie slates with assortments of local or international wedges to apple toast with house-made ricotta to pimento mac ‘n’ cheese. (It’s really no surprise, since it’s attached to sister location Bimi’s Cheese Shop.) If there’s ravioli on the menu, order it. We love the mushroom version with charred radicchio, pumpkin espuma (foam), and Gorgonzola.

Bar for Coffee & Cocktails
Camp Kingston, Kingston
Café with craft espresso by day, bar with inventive drinks and local beer by night—Camp Kingston does it all. Opened at the end of last year, the space has already amassed a loyal following, and it’s easy to see why. Stop by in the morning to sip on a latte and get some work done, then come back later for a cocktail and a game of pool.
