Congers Trailway & Boardwalk at Congers
Lake Congers
Clarkstown residents now have a scenic spot to stretch their legs. Building this 2.6 mile trail, which encircles Congers Lake, was “a labor of love” that began in 2004, says Supervisor Alexander Gromack. The final section, a .9 mile stretch that mostly consists of an elevated boardwalk on the water’s edge, opened last October. The picturesque views of the lake — as well as of the local wildlife that live in and around it — have sparked rave reviews from Gromack’s constituents. “It is one of the most popular recreational amenities we’ve provided in more than a decade,” he says. “I walk it every day.” 845-639-2000; www.town.clarkstown.ny.us
