This year marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. But local fans of the king of rock and roll can keep the love alive right in their own backyard at this weekly show, believed to be the only one of its kind in the region. “This is a Las Vegas-style show, not karaoke,” says Joe Eigo, who has been impersonating Elvis in various venues across the nation for the past 25 years. “There is no regular show of this caliber in all of New York State,” maintains Eigo, who has set up a special ’70s-themed Elvis room for his performance. The most requested songs? “Jailhouse Rock” and “Hurt.” “Sometimes I end up singing them three times in one night because people are always shouting out ‘do it again.’” The crowd ranges in size from 30 to 150 people at each performance (with summer shows being the most popular). Fans range from people in their 90s to young children — and everyone in between. “Kids in their 20s weren’t even born when Elvis was around,” Eigo laughs. “But they tell me, ‘Dude,it is so freaky — you sound just like him.’” And at least one part of him looks like Elvis — his perfectly coiffed sideburns. “People like to touch them,” says Eigo. “They say they just want to feel them.”
