If There’s a Will, There’s a Way (Part V)

Tough economy? Don’t sweat it, fellow shoppers. This week, I’ll show you how to ride high when the Dow is low. Today’s tip: Use the Internet

Today’s Tip: Use the Internet

The Internet is not only a great resource for researching, booking vacations, and dating (maybe?) — we can now purchase virtually anything we can think of (and things I’m sure we’d never even dream of) with a simple click of the mouse.

And why is this useful when you’ve got a tight budget? Well, for starters, you don’t have to worry about gas money, tolls, parking fees, and other annoying expenses that are tacked onto having to drive to your shopping destination. Also, many Internet retailers waive the shipping and handling fees for circumstances like spending a certain amount of money or doing your shopping on designated days. Other Web sites serve as the cyber equivalent of the shopping outlet: Amazon, Bluefly, eLuxury, to name a few, provide us with all our faves at a much lower price. Also, be sure to check out Ebates, a relatively newcomer to the on-line shopping scene. Once you sign up (which consists of merely typing in your e-mail address and choosing a password), you can be sure to receive up to 25 percent cash back on your purchases — items you’d be buying anyhow, from more than 900 of our most beloved stores (i.e. Saks, Betsey Johnson, True Religion, Bloomingdale’s, Urban Outfitters, JCrew, Guess, etc.).

I should also mention that the coupons extend beyond clothing and shoes, to nearly every other retail category fathomable: jewelry, electronics, wine, toys, movies, and travel. Um, wow?
