What’s special: Opened in 2008, this Pete Dye-designed course was created from 172 acres of magnificent cliffs, streams, and wooded hills. Dramatic rock formations and boulders were left onsite and more than 14,000 linear-feet of rock wall surround trees, wetlands, and water hazards. These frame-contoured fairways wind through hardwood forests and fescue mounds leading to open meadows. Pound Ridge plays to a par-72 and measures 7,171 yards. But with five sets of tees, this upscale course —which was named among Golf Digest’s “America’s Best New Courses” in 2009 — is enjoyable for all playing levels. The club features a practice range, short game area, and putting green, perfect for honing your skills.
The deal: The regular rate is $235; play weekdays (Mon.-Thurs.) with at least a five-day advance reservation, and you can play for $155 or $105 after 3 p.m . In addition, book five or more days in advance for weekends (Fri.-Sun.) and holidays for $195 per round, $150 (after 3 p.m.), and $105 (after 5 p.m.). A two-day (48-hour) cancellation requirement applies. All rates include a golf cart or pull cart and use of practice facilities.
