Letters to the Editor in November 2014

Read our letters to the editor for November 2014, including our Where in the Hudson Valley “Sign Language” contest answer

Hats off to Emma Kruger of Middletown, who won last month’s contest by correctly identifying a multiple mile marker’s location in the Town of Esopus. The town was at one point home to abolitionist Sojourner Truth and the noted 19th-century naturalist John Burroughs. This month, click here to see if you know the whereabouts of a very big bell.

The marker is located in the Esopus Meadows Point Preserve, next to Lighthouse Park. I love the magazine! As a local history teacher I share details from your publication with my students. There’s always something I didn’t know.

A Bit of Thanks

I love the article [on my participation in America’s It Girl] (October). Thank you for giving my story a chance. I will be forever grateful.

I lived in Poughkeepsie and Walden until I moved to Orlando, Florida in 1981. I love the memories I get from your [articles] on www.hvmag.com and posts on Facebook. Thanks!

Correction

The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Newburgh alerted us that the exhibit, “Professional Baseball,” is not on view as originally intended (and as we noted in our September and October calendars). In its place is a show on Charles Dickens and his illustrator known as Kyd. For more information, visit www.karpeles.com.
