This Warm, Rainy Roundhouse Wedding Is Love at Its Purest

Chris and Nina met their Freshman year of college in Delaware. Ten years later, Chris proposed to Nina in their apartment bedroom — one of Nina’s favorite places due to her love of sleep — on a cozy Saturday morning. The proposal was casual, private and very much reflective of the couple. After Chris proposed, the two made pancakes and called all of their friends and family.

A few months prior to the proposal, Nina’s sister had been to a wedding at The Roundhouse in Beacon and gushed about how beautiful it was. When Nina finally took a tour, she was not disappointed. She fell in love with the venue immediately.

The Roundhouse is cute but spacious, a boutique hotel with additional event space; their guests could stay on the grounds and then walk to the wedding, which was important to Nina. It’s also walking distance from Main Street, where they held their rehearsal dinner.

“Once the tour was over, we were sold,” Nina stated. It was the only venue they toured.

The two tied the knot on October 29, 2017, five years to the day following Hurricane Sandy. The week leading up to the wedding, Chris and Nina were anxious — the forecast for their special day was rain.

What started as just a drizzly morning turned into a full monsoon throughout the day. Though some might be deterred or saddened by the showers, Chris and Nina embraced it. All the photos of the couple outside were taken in the pouring rain and their wedding day turned out to fit the theme of Chris’s warm and homey proposal.

“It ended up making the day even more special,” Nina said. “It felt extra cozy in the Roundhouse during the party, and we got to take awesome pictures in the rain!”

Additionally, their wedding was officiated by a very close friend. Just another unique piece of the day that made it even more intimate and personal.

“He wrote a beautiful and super personal ceremony which made it much more special,” Nina stated. “Having someone who truly understands our relationship marry us in front of all our friends and family meant so much.”
