Where in the Valley: Trunk Show

Can you identify this trunk-topped treasure?

This pachyderm is the namesake of an unusually named local building that dates back nearly 200 years. The accompanying structure served as a hotel along the rural turnpike before becoming a bank; it now serves a municipal purpose.  The original wooden elephant was replaced by the current figure due to decay; however, the building still bears the name that marked the area’s claim to fame as “the Cradle of the American Circus.” Where is this mammoth monument?
