Jan 1: Hugo Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Asa Butterfield, Jude Law, and Ray Winstone, this film — which took home a host of Academy Awards — is based off the children’s book series of the same name and follows a young orphan boy who tries to unlock a secret left to him by his father. 10 a.m. Call for pricing.

Jan 2–8: Happy Feet Misfit Mumble the penguin can’t sing — and that’s a problem in his community, where singing is everything. Jan 7: Colorado Territory This 1949 remake of the 1941 High Sierra (the film that made Humphrey Bogart a name to know) stars Joel McCrea as an outlaw embarking on one final heist and Virginia Mayo who is after his heart. Noon, $13, $8 members.

Jan 8: Tempête French fisher/sailor Dom is used to leaving for life on the open seas for weeks at a time, but soon has to choose between life at sea and life on land when his teenage daughter falls pregnant. A Q&A session with the producer and screenwriter follows the screening. 5 p.m. $15, $10 members.

Jan 14: Run of the Arrow This 1957 flick stars Rod Steiger, Brian Keith, Ralph Meeker, and a young Charles Bronson. Steiger plays a Confederate soldier who refuses to accept the South’s defeat in the Civil War, heads west, and eventually joins the Sioux tribe; soon he once again faces divided loyalties when a US fort goes up near his new home and fighting among the two peoples breaks out. Jan 21: Rio Bravo The Duke and Dean Martin team up in this Western as they try to keep a well-connected criminal from escaping prison. Noon. $13, $8 members.

Jan 21, 22, 26: Belle and Sebastian Set in the Alps during World War II, six-year-old Sebastian tames an enormous sheepdog Belle, that at first makes the other villagers nervous. But when the Nazis arrive and start rooting out Jewish families and resistance members, Belle and Sebastian prove their loyalty and courage to the rest of the town. $13, $8 members, $7.50 children 13 and under. 21-22 at noon, 3 p.m. on the 26th. 

Jan 28: Yojimbo and For a Few Dollars More This double feature pairs two films produced in the spirit of “Westerns.” In Yojimbo, a wandering samurai warrior stumbles into a village in havoc because of clan wars. For a Few Dollars More, the second installment of the Dollars trilogy that made Clint Eastwood a star, features the Man with No Name who tries to capture the bandit El Indio.
