The Princess Bride — Bannerman Island

July 1, starts at sunset

If you’ve always wanted to check out that castle in the middle of the Hudson, here’s your chance. Catch a boat departing the Beacon Waterfront at 6 or 7 p.m., explore Bannerman Island, and then enjoy a showing of classic movie The Princess Bride. Tickets are $40 for ages 12 and up.

Noontime Tour: The Gilded Age in Troy — Troy

July 6 and 20, 12–1:30 p.m.

Fans of the The Gilded Age (HBO Max) know most of the show was filmed in the heart of Rensselaer County. To learn more about city’s 19th-century history join the Hart Cluett Museum for an informative walking tour. Tickets are $20 per person, kids 17 and under are free.

Vision of Wallkill Plein Air Event — Wallkill

July 9, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

Whether you’re an experienced painter or an amateur photographer, the Wallkill River School and Vision of Wallkill community improvement group invite you to Lippincott Manor for a day of creativity. Participating artists can choose any view for their work—from vistas of the Shawangunk Ridge and the Wallkill River to surrounding gardens—and agree to donate one piece of work to VOW for a silent auction in September.

Pleasantville Music Festival — Pleasantville

July 9, 12 p.m.

The hugely popular Pleasantville Music Festival at Parkway Field is back for their 16th season with top bands, food and drinks, and activities for the kids. Nine hours of music across three stages by 18 bands (including X Ambassadors, 10,000 Maniacs, and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears) pack the setlist.

Catskill Irish Arts Week — East Durham

July 10–16

Celebrate the traditions of Ireland with demonstrations and workshops at the MJQ Irish Cultural & Sports Centre. Fine tune your fiddle and step dance skills, or take a shot at creative writing, singing, and learning Gaelic. The week ends with the East Durham Trad Fest on Saturday, full of musical and dance performances and food from local vendors.

Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival — Oak Hill

July 14–17

The best of bluegrass comes to the Catskills. Featuring 47 groups, including Yonder Mountain String Band, Nathan & The Zydeco Cha-Chas, and The Gibson Brothers, this festival will also host local food and craft vendors, have space for onsite camping, and activities and games for all ages. Takes place at Walsh Farm across four days.

Orange County Fair — Middletown

July 14–31, Thursdays–Sundays

Carnival rides, monster trucks, fireworks, and deep-fried everything— county fair season is back! Head to the Orange County Fairgrounds for two weeks of fun, including special performances by the Hanneford Circus and headliner Toby Keith.

Girl Named Tom — Poughkeepsie

July 15, 8 p.m.

A sibling trio from Ohio (and the only group to ever win NBC’s The Voice), folk group Girl Named Tom is set to take the stage at the Bardavon. Performing a mix of covers and original songs from their debut EP Another World, this show serves as a benefit for Mid-Hudson Love INC, a group of churches that connects people in need with appropriate resources to encourage transformation.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream — Mt. Tremper

Alanis Morissette with Special Guest Garbage — Bethel

July 19, 7 p.m.

A continuation of her 2021 tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of debut album JAGGED LITTLE PILL, Alanis Morissette comes to Bethel Woods to perform hits like “Hand in My Pocket” as well as songs from more recent releases. Iconic alt-rock band Garbage will kick off the night.

Upstate Art Weekend — throughout the HV

July 22–24

Returning for its third year, this three-day self-directed tour features over 145 artists and art centers that will be showcasing exhibitions, projects, and open studio tours throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills regions. Participating locations include Art Omi, Olana, Dia Beacon, Storm King Art Center, and many more.
