Harvest on Hudson, Hastings-on-Hudson

With extraordinary panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Palisades, Harvest on Hudson is an exceptional fine-dining experience.

Chef David Amorelli cooks up creative Italian cuisine inspired by local produce and the restaurant’s vegetable and herb garden. There are many ways to dine at Harvest on Hudson. “You can come here and have a classical meal with three to four courses, you can share a bunch of small plates, or you can simply order a brick-oven pizza and a beer. There’s something for everyone,” says co-owner Angelo Liberatore.

You understand why, after you’ve had a chance to review their expansive menu: sfizi (very small snack plates), a raw bar, a selection of meats and cheeses, salads, antipasti, pasta, risottos, brick oven pizzas, entrees, contorni (side dishes) and, of course, dessert. There are also several daily specials.

The lamb spring rolls wth apricot, almonds, and mint tzatziki have been on the menu since the restaurant opened 18 years ago and continues to be a popular appetizer. The crispy artichoke is also a favorite starter. The Hudson Valley rabbit (sourced from local Sazio Farms) served scarpariello-style with fennel sausage, hot cherry peppers, potatoes, and rosemary is a popular entree year-round.

Harvest on Hudson features fresh, local ingredients and seasonally driven dishes that reflect the restaurant’s bucolic setting on the Hudson River with views of the Palisades

Guests have their choice of two distinct outdoor dining experiences: a full-service, waterside patio or casual, lighter dining in the restaurant’s vegetable and herb garden. Although the outdoor patio can seat up to  150 for full-service dining, the experience is still quite peaceful. There is no amplified music outdoors; you’re simply immersed in nature and the company you’re keeping. “It’s a great opportunity to take a deep breath, relax, and recharge your batteries,” says Liberatore. It’s not uncommon for those dining in vegetable and herb garden (which seats 50) to see the cooks coming out and gathering tomatoes, peppers, and other ingredients from the bountiful garden.

The outdoor patio and garden are open seasonally, weather permitting. This year, Harvest on Hudson broke its own record and began outdoor dining in March; it typically ends in October. Reservations recommended; outdoor seating is first come, first served.
