Why Cash-Strapped Couples Should Opt for a Morning Wedding

Timing is everything when you’re getting hitched

If you have a specific vision for your wedding — for instance, if you want a very fancy evening affair — it can often be difficult to switch things up a bit when your limited budget comes into play. One local bride worries that she’s sacrificing elegance, but I disagree! Sometimes all you need to do is think outside the box.

A Hudson Valley bride asks…
“I have [financial] restrictions but I don’t want to look cheap. At the last venue we visited, the event planner suggested a morning wedding [to save money]. I’ve never heard of it. What do you think?”

The Wedding Guru says…
I think the event planner’s suggestion is an excellent one. Morning weddings are having a comeback! A breakfast or brunch is not only cost-effective, but a fun variation on what “everyone else” is doing. Because of the time of day, less alcohol can be served and less will be consumed. (Hint: That means you’re avoiding a huge expense.)

Depending on the venue, you may be able to hang out with your guests until early afternoon. If you’re leaving for your honeymoon immediately after your wedding, you can go home, unwind, and still leave town in daylight. An AM wedding can be just as much fun — and just as elegant.
