The Wedding Guru says: There’s a lot of financial obligation in being a bridesmaid, so make sure you think long and hard before accepting the honor. The gift from the wedding party is not a must traditionally, but it sounds like you are stuck with it here! If the bridal party has committed to a group gift, you may wish to pare down your personal one — or eliminate it altogether.

A very classy bride, particularly one who has been a bridesmaid herself, would not accept a gift from her bridesmaids: their gift to her is their support on her big day!
