Sewage Treatment Plant Available As a Wedding Venue

Our Wedding Guru was asked about the most unusual wedding venue she’s ever come across, and her answer might have you pinching your nose

This question from a local bride was fun to answer after bit of research.

Dear Wedding Guru:
“What’s the most unusual wedding venue you’ve ever come across?” — Keep Putnam Weird

Dear Keep Putnam Weird:
I can’t swear that this is the oddest, but it does rank right up there. This press release appeared in the Kokomo Tribune that comes out of state of Washington:

“A sewage treatment plant near Seattle is advertising its availability as a wedding venue. The Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Center says on Facebook it has a full catering kitchen, audio-video equipment, dance floor and ample parking. You could even hold the wedding outside.
The director of the Brightwater Environmental Education and Community Center, Susan Tallarico, tells KIRO that receptions would take place just steps away from where raw sewage is processed. She says there’s no odor because all the processing is contained.
The King County plant was finished three years ago but has been available for rent for about seven months. It costs $2,000 to rent the center for eight hours. One couple has already booked the sewage plant for their nuptials.”

Thankfully, I haven’t encountered any odd venues in the Valley (yet). Have you? Share your stories below!
