With all the stress of planning a wedding, too often the bridal couple mixes up their priorities — especially when it comes to matters of the budget. This bride’s mother has the right idea regarding her daughter’s current wedding challenge.

The Wedding Guru says: Many bridal couples first pick the venue and then see how many guests they can invite in order to stay in their budget. But I agree with you that it’s the guest list that’s most important!

There are many ways to plan a wedding that include all the guests, but don’t break the bank. Try planning the wedding during the daytime, with a traditional tea to follow. If you can, add tea sandwiches, cake, and Champagne or punch. Another concept is “Just Desserts” — serving lots of sweet things (some made by family and friends) and beverages. Either of these should allow you to stay in-budget.
