Bright prints were absolutely everywhere in the Spring 2013 collections at New York Fashion Week (for further proof of this, check out my reviews of WHIT and W118 by Walter Baker), but few were as girly and wearable as the ones seen at Nonoo by Misha Nonoo. Patterns ranged from cheeky flamingos on a full-length dress to petite stars on a blazer. Although the collection screamed ladylike, it was kept young and casual with cobalt blue drawstring pants, T-shirts, and short-but-not-tacky hem lengths. For an extra shot of sportiness, the entire collection was styled with chunky white shoes. Sheer paneling on otherwise plain pieces was a nice surprise, and a pair of deep red shorts with a lace-overlay was gorgeous. Stand-out looks included head-to-toe floral prints paired with a mint jacket, as well as dresses with flirty and flouncy hemlines.
Also noteworthy: the hair and makeup. The orangey lips were perfect, and Frida Kahlo-inspired hair with fabric woven into the braids created a wonderful DIY project to try at home.
This was the first time I was able to see a collection from Misha, and I was thoroughly impressed by the expert craftsmanship and accessibility of the clothes. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does in the future!
