Prom Dress Ideas: Monique Lhuillier Collection from New York Fashion Week Spring 2013
Looking for prom dress ideas? Look no further than Fashion Week (and Pinterest) for inspiration

It’ll be prom season here in the Valley before you can say “boutonniere.” Girls everywhere will spend hours shopping online and in stores for that one dress that will make them stand out on prom night.
Last spring when I was looking for a prom dress, I put together boards on Pinterest of silhouettes, colors, and details that I liked. When it finally came time to pick a dress, my job was practically done for me: I just needed to find something that matched my inspiration board (and of course, my budget).
If you’re hoping to assemble an inspiration collection of your own, one idea is to check out high-end designers’ collections, where you can find almost any style you can think of. I really liked Monique Lhuillier’s gorgeous collection for Spring 2013; it’s very modern and classy. Do I want a long or short skirt? Sleeveless, short sleeves (my favorite), or long sleeves? Matte or sparkle? Print or solid color? I found examples of all these details in this collection.
What I really love about the collection is that it also offers many dress ideas that I may not have considered before. How about a lace prom dress? Got it. What about one with a digital print, metallic fabric, a high neckline, a knee-length skirt (much easier to dance in than a floor-length gown), a half-sheer skirt, or a hi-lo hem? Not every prom dress needs to be skin-tight, revealing, and painfully sparkly. I’m excited for prom this season, and when it comes time to find a dress, Monique’s collection will be the first place I look for inspiration. How about you?
