From the moment I saw the first outfit (a straightforward red gown), I knew TOME Fall 2013 would be something special. TOME launched in 2011, and won the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award this year, further establishing it as a brand to watch. This collection uses simple-but-precise cuts for a really dramatic, avant-garde effect. The beauty of the collection really lies in its choice of cut and fabric. Who says that you need to have a ton of bright colors and embelishments in order to stand out? These pieces are so well-planned that they make a loud statement just by being minimalistic.
A few pieces really stand out in the collection: an iridescent, floor-length gown and a jacket in shiny gray and blue, respectively. Iridescence was a huge trend for spring, and it looks like it’s following us into fall as well. The collection really hit the trend in terms of hot fall colors; burgundy and gray have been here, there, and everywhere this season. With its column dresses and eye-catching coats, TOME’s collection is incredibly wearable — and I hope to see it in lots of stores come fall.
